Testimonials

Sydney’s approach is incredibly patient, caring, and empathetic. Her ability to connect with our son in a

gentle and nurturing manner is truly remarkable. My son adores her and looks forward to her sessions.

Several aspects of Sydney’s approach to OT stand out to me:

1) Her therapy sessions are nothing short of amazing, each one tailored to specific needs and strengths.

She seamlessly integrates language into every single session: this is the result of many years of working

as a team with SLP’s. My son has a language delay and he is also an English language learner. I have seen

his verbal skills improve so much during his OT sessions thanks to Sydney’s expert approach.

2) Her ability to involve us as parents in the therapy process. She explained sensory processing

disorders to us, helped us understand our child’s unique sensory profile, and provided practical

strategies to implement at home (sensory diet). She also visited my son’s school to help school staff

implement sensory regulation strategies, and wrote an incredible thorough report that went into his IEP

. Her guidance and support has been invaluable.

3) Her dedication and commitment to our son’s progress. She regularly communicates with us to discuss

progress, address any concerns, and adjust the therapy plan accordingly. This open line of

communication and collaborative approach made us feel supported and encouraged throughout the

therapy journey.

Sydney has had such a transformative effect on Mateo’s quality of life. We are forever grateful for the

positive impact she is having on our child’s well-being and development. We love Sydney!

“I strongly recommend Sydney as an occupational therapist. Sydney has a deep understanding of autism and boundless ideas on functional and realistic strategies to assist students. She provided excellent classroom support and suggestions on what I could do at home to benefit my son. During distance learning, Sydney made countless slide shows with embedded videos that my son enjoyed watching and helped me better understand the exercises. Her intelligence and creativity in working with my son and me make her a valued member of our team.”

“Sydney Bates is a remarkable occupational therapist. She worked with our son Alex for over 10 years. Throughout that time, we have seen slow steady improvement with Alex’s motor planning, fine motor skills, and most importantly coping with his anxiety. As with most kids with special needs, improvement doesn’t happen over night. It takes patience and dedication to reach all those small successes along the way. Sydney fully understands that and will be your child’s biggest cheerleader.
Sydney has a gift with connecting with children. She sees them as unique individuals and really figures out what will motivate them. She is creative, energetic, and isn’t afraid to think outside of the box. If one approach fails, she has a million more up her sleeve.
It took Alex a long time to feel trust and feel comfortable with Sydney. She made achieving his goals fun and exciting. Alex isn’t one to sit at a desk. So, Sydney kept Alex moving. She would swing him while doing desk work, put him through obstacle courses, played grocery store, had him deliver mail. You name it, she came up with it.
Through all of her hard work and dedication, Sydney was rewarded with Alex allowing her to hug him and sit right next to him while doing tasks. She is one of only a small handful of therapists that is able to do this. She has an intuitive sense of when to push and when to pull back. She can read children well.
Sydney has improved Alex’s quality of life in countless ways. She is a rare find, and we are grateful that she was Alex’s therapist for so many years.”
